Endhiran shooting stills from Peru got leaked in the internet yesterday. These stills look like taken by someone working with the crew using a mobile phone. Shooting of a duet song featuring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai was going on.
The much-awaited music of the much-awaited film Vaaranam Aayiram was released yesterday at Sathyam Cinemas. The function was a very casual affair with director Gautham Menon playing host to all the guests and fans.
Last evening , i went to the movie "Saroja" which i had earlier seen along with my friends !! Although i had to control myself at certain places - cos i was sittin in between my mom & dad , i still thoroughly enjoyed the second-sight !! :) I dont think even Hollywood has turned out movies in this genre - "A Comic Thriller" !! It was hilarious as well as serious !! I loved the acting of RJ Siva , especially when he says "Yaar Sir intha ladies" !! :p But only thing i could nt understand was that my mom and dad were nt that impressed by the movie !! Hmmm.. wonder what Age does to your tastes !! :)
UTV signed Suriya for Mugamoodi to be made under Mysskin’s supervision. Now, the news about Suriya’s new avatar has started to spread. In a year to two, we will see Suriya as the “caped crusader” saving people’s lives and fighting crime and injustice. It is also said that the film will be Kollywood’s version of comic book hero Superman’s story. But speculation is rife that the story might be slightly altered to herald the arrival of a new Kollywood superhero. Well, a new genre has begun in Kollywood: our own superhero films!
the sci-fi specialist Sujatha no longer around to give the much needed advice, Shankar has chosen to look beyond Kollywood, beyond Bollywood and into Hollywood. Shankar seems to have set sight on Manoj Night Shyamalan, known for making films like Sixth Sense, The Village, Unbreakable, Signs and The Happening. Shyamalan may not be a complete sci-fi specialist but he knows how to keep people on their toes and that's exactly what Shankar wants. The top Kollywood director is said to have approached Shyamalan for discussing the finer elements of the script of Endhiran.
Vijaya T. Rajendar convened a press meet at the Four Frames Theatre to clear the air over the car theft and an accident that claimed a life and seriously injured another. The incident occurred on September 10th. Detailing about what happened on the fateful day T.R. said that his younger son Kuralasaran had gone to dine in a hotel situated on Mount Road at about 10 pm. He refuted all allegations that Silambarasan was present with his brother on the fateful day. T.R. substantiated this by stating the Silambarasan was in Sri Lanka from September 3rd to 14th.
The doting dad, Ultimate Star Ajit Kumar , is showering Anoushka , his daughter, with gifts galore. The recent addition to this list is an expensive toy plane costing around twenty lakhs which is said to be controlled by remote control and could fly at a particular distance. Though Anoushka may not know to operate this right now as she is very young, she may start playing with it later. The latest buzz in kollywood is that the shooting of Varanam aayiram has been completed and just a few patchworks are on. It is now confirmed that it will make it to the theatres for Deepavali. A fitting competition for Varanam will be "Thala" Ajith's Aegan . Aegan, in fact has been targeting a Deepavali release right from the beginning and is working towards it. With the two big star of Kollywood – Surya and Ajith – ready to hit the silver screens on Deepavali fans are sure to be in for a treat. The Gautham Menon – Surya – Harris Jeyaraj combo in VA and Raju Sundaram – Ajith – Nayanthara – Yuvan Shankar Raja combo in Aegan is bound to make Deepavali celebrations even more explosive.
I just watched Saroja at Satyam - and i should say - it was one of the best movies of the year !! We have nt seen much of this genre of Comic thrillers in Tamil and Venkat Prabhu has scored on it !! It was a hilarious riot and at the same time filled with suspense !! Here is some snippets from the Behindwoods review of the movie !!
It’s the return of the victorious team of Chennai 6000028. All those who watched and loved the refreshingly youthful fun story would certainly have high expectations of Saroja. The onus is on Venkat Prabhu to prove that Chennai 600028 was not a freak hit. Billed as a first of its kind in Tamil cinema, Saroja tells the story of four ordinary men who end up in an extraordinary situation on a day that is perfectly normal to start with.
Technically, Saroja is a movie that gives a lot of scope for the cinematographer, most of the story being at night, and has been used well. The background score too is befitting of a thriller. The songs have been tailor made for the youth and are bound to be enjoyed. But the movie on the whole belongs to the director who has taken a one line plot and maintained the element of suspense till the very end, a very challenging thing to do for a director in only his second movie. He has managed to cleverly craft the characters such that we don’t get the slightest inkling of what is afoot.
Saroja is certainly different from the run of the mill movies and the attempt should be appreciated. At the box office, the thriller tag and the deftly held suspense will prove to be its strength and the lack of pace (at places) and the elements of comedy (perhaps) may go against it. Venkat Prabhu proves that he is not a flash in the pan, the young director is here to stay.

Finally the Biggest announcement of the year is here !! "Endhiran" - the Robot , the dream project of Director Shanker has finally kick started its shooting !! The shooting commences with two songs that are gonna be shot in exotic locales in the US starring Superstar Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai ! The songs are futuristic hip hop numbers scored by AR Rahman ! Other news is that , the stunt choreographer for the movie is Yuen Woo Ping who worked for movies like the Matrix and Kill Bill !! Also Animatronics is done by Stan Winston Studio (USA), who has some prestigious projects to their credit including Jurassic Park, Pearl Harbor, Iron Man, Terminator etc.
MRS.Bhoomika Chawla ( Now Bhoomika Thakur) , after her much publicised wedding with Bharat Thakur few months back , has soon got back to acting !! And this time in a Tamil Flick !! She was last seen in tamil opposite Surya in Chillunu oru Kadhal !! This time around she's joining hands again with Srikanth (with whom she made her debut in "Roja Kootam" ! Another point to note is that she will be playing the role of a mom of a one year old kid in the movie - which also stars Prithviraj !!

Ajith is gearing up for his next project with Gautham Menon. "Aegan" , which is in the making, is expected to be released for Diwali. The buzz is that Ajith has been signed up for a film that is to be produced by Sivaji Films. This film is expected to go on the floors in December and Gautham is already engrossed in the venture. According to the director, he has plans to show Ajith more stylishly than Billa. In fact the director is working on Ajith's looks and hairstyle by creating various styles in the computer !!

The late cinematographer turned director Jeeva unfortunately walked into God’s hands before Dhaam Dhoom was completed. We are not sure whether he would have screamed in delight looking at the end product made in his absence because Dhaam Dhoom which had enough potential to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller opens in high spirits raising expectations, and then fizzles out.The comedy that takes place in the village is funny in parts, and irritating in others. Jeyaram is in a role that will surprise you, and he pulls it off effortlessly, making us realize that Tamil cinema requires such stylish and no-nonsense characters. Russia comes alive in front of our eyes, courtesy Jeeva’s cinematography which is brilliant and evocative of his unbeaten career. Many a times in the movie Harris Jayaraj proves to be a big plus – the songs, coupled with cinematography shot in remarkably breathtaking locations, make the viewer sit and take note, something the script and screenplay could not do. The Anbe, Anbe song is especially beautiful, and it is very possible that some in the audience will want to see this song sequence again.
In the end, though, Dhaam Dhoom disappoints with its rather predicable climax. Try it if you are an ardent admirer of Jeeva or Jayaraj. Or if you just like seeing good looking but hollow Tamil thrillers.
After Hema Malini - After Asin and After Kajol - its now Trisha , who has been told to have joined the cast of "Marmayogi" - Kamal hasan's master piece which is now being produced by Pyramid Saimira !! It is said that Trisha will be replacing the character that was supposed to be played by Asin ! Hema Malini and Kajol are still in the cast , who will be joined most probably by Amitabh "The Big B" Bachan - if al;l things go well according to plan ! But as of now it seems most unlikely as Pyramid Saimira who have just undergone losses due to the debacle of "Kuselan" have ureged Kamal Hasan to cut down costs !!
After successive flops of "ATM" and "Kuruvi" , Vijay in a bid to get back to his top position , is currently desperately working for 'Villu' that is being directed by Prabhu Deva. Meanwhile he had done a cameo for his father's film 'Panthayam' that stars Nithin Sathya and Sindhu Tolani. Vijay plays himself in the film and features as though he is acting in a film titled 'MGR' directed by Perarasu(Yuck!!)
In the meantime , the announcement of his next movie has come !! His next venture after 'Villu' has been titled 'Vettaikkaaran' - the title of MGR's hit movie . It seems Vijay , who was dreaming to be the Next Superstar - now wants to be the next MGR :p
Rajinikanth is all geared up to commence 'Robot'. Meanwhile grapevine is abuzz with rumors that Rajinikanth might do the lead role in a film to be directed by A R Murugadoss. The director, who's currently making 'Gajini' with Aamir Khan and Asin in Hindi currently, says he narrated a script to Rajini and that it is up to the superstar to decide . The director is confident that Rajnikanth would finalize the script. However for now, Murugadoss would like to focus on 'Gajini'.
Its the Anthem of the tamil youth now-a-days !! Sakkarakatti's "Taxi Taxi" which is topping the charts all over - was supposed to be only a background song in the movie , but now after becoming a huge hit , the movie's director has decided to Re-shoot the song with Blaze rapping and with French models !! Seems the music video has come out very well and will be airing in music channels from next month !! Cant wait to watch it !! :)
In an interview to Reporters yesterday , "Chiyan" Vikram told that he was very much excited to star opposite Aishwarya Rai in Mani Ratnam's untitled next venture - which is supposedly a story based on the Ramayana - that will be shot simulataneously in Hindi and Tamil with an interesting twist !! In hindi - the lead pair will be Abhishek Bachan and Aishwarya Rai Bachan with Vikram playing a key role(mostly villain) , where as in Tamil , it will be Vikram playing Abhishek's role opposite Aishwarya , and the "Key role" played by Vikram in Hindi , will be played by anothre actor in Tamil !! Hufff , thats one heck of a load of work that can only be pulled by a versatile actor like him !! Also , Vikram refused to let anything out about the story of the movie !!
